Walking on the edge of Winter

We finally had the chance this morning to go on a long walk with Elfie again. We walked to a small stone circle in Fernworthy forest. We haven’t visited this particular circle in quite a while and it was good to see it again, especially with the grass around it still very short and winter-dead. It doesn’t look like much when you see it in a photograph but it has lovely energy and always feels like a place of healing. There is a burial mound near it and that also feels like a place of guardianship and healing. It’s a good place to come to work out problems or when we need clarity and insight into things in our lives.

Winter still has a hold on Fernworthy. Our garden is full of spring flowers and we even have little leaves coming out on a few trees, but just a mile or two away and slightly higher on the moor, the signs of spring are few and far between. We did see some wonderful moss covered trees (which I photographed for you) - a goblin tree and a troll tree, and - we also saw a unicorn. Now, you may not believe this, because his horn isn’t visible, but never the less, he IS a unicorn. At least I choose to think so!

I’d also like to mention that if anyone is thinking about coming to the workshops we are giving in France this summer, now is the time to inquire about them since they are almost full and won’t be available for much longer.  Click here for Workshop Details

Back to work now. It’s flying faeries week in my studio! Here’s a photo of one of them. They will be flying this spring and summer at the gallery in BelCastel, France.

  5. Miss Wendy,
I can feel the energy coming from the stone circle...it's mesmerizing.
    And I agree....most definately a Unicorn.
The flying faerie is simply wonderful. Looks like she just flew out of the trees from the previous photo.

  6. Yes. Clearly a unicorn. Keep its location a secret... And, oh my goodness, what a wonderful blog you have here. However do you find the time?

  7. Something about this faery reminds me of our beloved EJ Bouldry. Wel, i guess we always knew she was a faery godmother!

  8. I spent all summer raising money to buy a piece of either Brian or Wendy's art. I traveled from Texas to New York for my high school graduation present just to go see Brian and Wendy's art. My mother had just lost her job too that month so we had to be very frugal in New York which is VERY hard. This faerie, Alora is one of my greatest treasures. When the gallery owners let me hold all of the Froud's art I just cried and kept saying "this one is in my book!" When they handed me Alora, I did not want to put her down or hand her to my sister to look at. I knew she was the one I wanted. She was the joyful childhood nostalgia that I wanted with me forever. A reminder of all the adventure Brian, Wendy, Jim Henson, and every other inspiring worker that worked among them brought us. They are the true artist bringing joy to those of all ages. I hope someday that my artwork brings as much inspiration and happiness to others as theirs have done to us.
